[edit] Playing career

In the 2003 season, his rookie year, Fahey was San Jose's rookie of the year. If his point totals were prorated to a full 82-game schedule, he would have led all rookies in points. Nonetheless, he led all rookie defenseman in scoring. In the 2004 season, Fahey battled with pneumonia, and after recording only 2 points in fifteen games, was sent to San Jose's AHL affiliate in Cleveland. In the 2006 season, Fahey got off to a bad start. Players like Christian Ehrhoff, Rob Davison, Josh Gorges, Doug Murray, and Matt Carle played much better, causing Fahey to slip from the depth chart. He has not played since January tenth in a game against the Boston Bruins.

Fahey has also played in international competitions, like the 2003 IIHF Men's World Championships. He has also been named to the PlanetUSA AHL All-star team.

Fahey signed a one-year, one-way contract worth US$500,000; his contract ends in June 2007. Prior to the 2006-07 NHL season, Fahey was traded with Alexander Korolyuk to the New Jersey Devils for Vladimir Malakhov and a conditional first round pick.

Fahey also has a degree in real estate development from Northeastern University in Boston MA.
