Jim Drobnick

Jim Drobnick is a curator, critic and editor, and has worked in installation, audio, dance and performance.

Drobnick is Associate Professor of Contemporary Art and Theory at the Ontario College of Art and Design. He has held research affiliations at the University of Manchester and the National Gallery of Canada. He has published on performance art, video, dance and interdisciplinary practices in catalogues and anthologies such as Crime and Ornament (2002), Foodculture (2000), Empire of the Senses (2004), and Intimus: Interior Design Theory Reader (2006). He was Senior Editor at Parachute for twelve years and has appeared in journals such as Angelaki, High Performance, Performance Research, Public, and The Senses & Society. His books include the anthologies Aural Cultures (2004) and The Smell Culture Reader (2006), and his current research involves the use of the senses by visual artists. As an independent curator and co-founder with Jennifer Fisher of the curatorial collaborative DisplayCult, he has organized exhibitions such as CounterPoses (1998), Vital Signs (2000), Museopathy (2001), reminiSCENT (2003), and Aural Cultures (2005).
