Passed away Feb. 24, 1987.

During the golden age of Top-40 radio, it was not uncommon for major markets to have two popular stations fighting for every ratings point tooth and nail. In New York, it was WABC vs WMCA, in Philadelphia WIBG vs WFIL, in Chicago WLS and WCFL and so on. In Buffalo, the battle was between the 50,000-watt blowtorch WKBW and the 1,000 teapot WYSL. And guess what? Despite the disparity in frequency strengths, it was a pitched battle with little WYSL giving WKBW all it could handle. The real winner was the listener who got to hear JC on the air.

One of WYSL's most endearing personalities was the late Jim Connors, its morning man in the early '70s. Connors had something of a freeform style, as you'll hear on his airchecks. He was the inspiration for Harry Chapin's hit song "WOLD".

JC graduated from Pawtucket West High school in 1958. He entered the U.S. Air Force after High school, in San Antonio, Texas. He picked up his future business as a radio announcer there. JC was known for his "Fact Sheet", and his wonderous ways of finding people, he was a good 'head hunter'. JC was a great Personality on the air and off.

--JC has 13 gold records for discovering artists and/or their music.

--JC was on JFK's crack communications team in the Florida Keys, which aided directly in the blockade of Cuba.

--JC was editor (with his late father) of JC'S THINK SHEET, a music review report which informed the nation's best radio stations of current music.
