Jim Beard is an American jazz pianist, guitarist, a contemporary instrumental composer, songwriter and record producer.

The personnel on Beard's debut CD Song of the Sun reads like a who's who of the fusion jazz scene with players such as Wayne Shorter, Michael Brecker, Toots Thielemans, Dennis Chambers, Jon Herington, Victor Bailey and many others all making contributions.

Jim Beard is noted for a uniquely eclectic and often whimsical compositional style that incorporates elements of humor and unpredictability in many of his songs and productions. Many of Beard's compositions have been recorded by top jazz artists, for example "The Wait" by John McLaughlin; "Riddle Me This" by Bob Berg; "In The Hat" by Victor Bailey; and "I'll Miss You" by Bill Evans.
