V. James Barnes (April 13, 1941, Tuckerman, Arkansas - September 14, 2002), a.k.a. Jim 'Bad News' Barnes was an American basketball player.

A 6'8" forward/center from the University of Texas at El Paso, Barnes was selected by the New York Knicks with the first pick of the 1964 NBA Draft. He played 7 seasons (1964-71) in the NBA with five teams, scoring 3,997 career points.
