JikesRVM is a research project from IBM to create an open-source Java virtual machine. The key difference from many other VMs is that it is implemented in Java and does not rely on any native code written in system languages like C/C++. It uses GNU Classpath as a standard class library. The program is licensed under the Common Public License.
