Ji Chang

Ji Chang a character featured within the famed ancient Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods (more commonly known as Fengshen Yanyi. Ji Chang is renowned as the Grand Duke of the West -- a title he has held for over three generations of service under the Shang Dynasty. Early on within the novel - at the Su Hu capturing arc - Ji Chang would play a small role, in which he told Tiger Duke of the North that he may assist him in his endeavors -- but he truly believed that conflict would not solve anything but further unnecessary bloodshed. Following a large amount of time, and the four Grand Dukes were ordered to head to the Morning Song, the capital, as to attend a celebration. Before Ji Chang headed out to Morning Song, he would perform divination and see his future; through divination, Ji Chang learned that he won't be returning for over the time span of seven years. Due to this, he tells his older son to take care of his region while he himself wouldn't come back for quite some time. Thus, Ji Chang heads out to the capital and accepts his fate.
