[edit] Page protection
Hi there - just answering the message you left on my talk page. Yeah, I had to revert Greystones a few times and have it on my watchlist now. To request page protection, go to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection aka WP:RPP and follow the instructions there. It's easy enough! In this case as all the vandalism/POV/reversions are done by anon editors, semi-protection should be sufficient. That way, only established editors may edit the page. Welcome to WP, by the way. Nice to have another Irish editor on here! - Ali-oops✍ 18:16, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Greystones
I noticed you reverted an anon change as "rv POV", but as far as I can see what was removed by the anon was:
- "with over half coming from outside the Greystones Delgany area"
- "The coastal erosion will also be much reduced by the plan. All inhabitants are in favour of ..."
That to me seems like the anon was removing uncited claims/POV, not adding it! Do you have a source for the two statements you re-inserted above? If, not, it is probably better to remove them.
Oh, also, a content dispute is not vandalism, so please be careful before labeling changes as such, as you did in [1] Regards, MartinRe 11:36, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the reply. No worries, it is easy to see anon edit and think "vandal", but it's important to double check before acting, as there are some very good editors that contribute anonymously. I've moved a discussion of the missing citations onto the talk page, I don't think the entire paragraph needs to go, it just needs to be pared down to the verifiable information. Btw, protection (semi or full) is only a temporary measure to stop edit warring/serious vandalism, it won't be applied to a page with a content dispute with a couple of edits a day, which this is. Anyway, I'll continue on the article talk page, and have a quick look if I can find sources for any of the current claims. Regards, MartinRe 14:26, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
