Jewish Ghetto Police

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jewish Ghetto Police (German: Jüdische Ghetto-Polizei, Jüdischer Ordnungsdienst) were the notorious Jewish ghetto police units organized in the ghettos by the Jewish Judenrat councils under German Nazi orders.

They were generally comprised of Jews who had no prior association with the community they oversaw, and who could be relied upon to follow German orders, including helping with the deportations of hapless victims to extermination camps.
