Jewar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Gautam Buddha Nagar District in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located in the outskirts of Greater Noida[1], the district headquarters are located in NOIDA itself. It is about 60 km away from Noida, and one can come via Dankaur, Rabupura. A 8 lane Taj Expressway from Greater Noida to Agra via Jewar, and a Taj Special Economic Zone is proposed and expected to come soon. Jewar is situated a few kilometers northeast from the bank of Yamuna River. In the west is Haryana state. Jewar itself is a Tehsil, and well connected to many tehsils and districts by road namely Khurja, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahr, Khair, Aligarh and Palwal (District - Faridabad in Haryana). Delhi is about 92 km from here and one can come via Faridabad, Palwal or via Ghaziabad, Sikandrabad, Jhajhar. The nearest railway stations are Khurja Junction (26 km), Chola (27 km) and Palwal (Haryana) (28 km). This town has a historical significance too as it was named after Maharshi Jaawali, a sage of ancient times. There is an Asharam and very old temple of the Maharshi, located 1 km west of Jewar. The Ashram is surrounded by very ancient trees which form a part of wild forests of that time. One can see the Statue of Maharshi Jaawali, on the main crossing (Gol Chakkar) of Jewar. Jewar itself is a Vidhan Sabha area and falls under Khurja Lok Sabha area. Jewar has 3 government senior secondary schools: Jain Inter College, Janta Inter College, Kanya Inter College)and many other convent schools. Jewar has one small government hospital and one private one (K.M. Jain Hospital operated by a trust of Jain Community) Jewar is surrounded by hundreds of villages. Thousands of people visit Jewar daily for different purposes e.g. market, education, medical services etc. Other interests include Devi Mandir, Daau ji Mandir (famous for Daau Ji Mela held in every Sep.)[1]

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Jewar had a population of 26,950. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Jewar has an average literacy rate of 48%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 57%, and female literacy is 37%. In Jewar, 20% of the population is under 6 years of age. Jewar is located in the outskirts of Greater Noida, and it lies in District G.B. Nagar, GautamBudh Nagar (U.P.), 203135
