Jets Overhead are a Canadian rock band who formed in 2003 and are based out of Victoria, British Columbia. Their self-titled debut EP peaked at number 42 on the CMJ music chart. They have played several high profile gigs including Edgefest in 2006, and have opened for Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace after lead singer Raine Maida heard Get it Right. The singer liked the song so much that he reserved a spot on an upcoming War Child Benefit album.

[edit] Music

Surprisingly Jets Overhead provide all of their music free without royalties on their website. It is their view that in the current day and age, with pirating and illegal peer to peer (P2P) networks for dowloading music free of charge, it is easier to provide the music in a free form themselves (though the option is given to buy the album at the regular price or make a donation). Jets Overhead and their production label Microgroove believe that in providing the music for free they will be spreading their music faster and therefore reaching a broader audience. They appear to be one of the first bands to conform to the difficulties of modern day music by providing music for free themselves in what they call the "digital revolution".

[edit] Discography

In their three year career as a band Jets Overhead have released two CDs, their debut EP named simply "Jets Overhead"(2003), and their new release of "Bridges"(2006); the band's first LP, or full album. Jets Overhead's first release toped at respectable #42 on the CMJ music chart, making a consideralbe mark for there first CD. The band's second CD "Bridges" was met with positive reveiws and has been reasonably successful. Jets overhead have also released and Instrumental version of "Bridges" which is available on their website.
