- This is a sub-article of Death of Jesus.
The idea that Jesus did not come to die plays a prominent part in Unification Church scriptural interepretations and is intimately related to the church's Dual prophecies doctrine.
In contrast to the beliefs of the majority of Western Christians, the Unification Church teaches the following:
- That Jesus was appointed by God to fulfill the "Mission of the Messiah", i.e., to unite all the people of the world as one family of heart with God as humanity's True Parent.
- That it was chiefly due to the Failure of John the Baptist that the Jewish people of the time did not accept Jesus as the Messiah.
- That this led to the need for Jesus to bring about spiritual salvation through the grace (or "Indemnity") of the redemption through the cross.
