Jesktop

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jesktop is a desktop programmed in the Java programming language.

The Jesktop project is a desktop system written in Java that can have GUI applications installed into it. Its look and feel is customizable and shared between all applications, and it is built upon a container framework. A useful collection of applications and demos have been ported to it. It is semi-dependent upon NanoContainer which is a component framework at Codehaus. Graphical components, if they have dependencies are fashioned in the style of the Constructor Dependency Injector (CDI) pattern.

Jesktop has been under construction since November 2000. It's team was founded by people building William's Portable Java Environment (PJE) since early 2000. Paul Hammant (lead developer)

It has been included with some other applications on ByzantineOS at http://byzgl.sourceforge.net/.

Jesktop 2.0 for Linux can be downloaded at http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Environment/Window-Managers/Jesktop-1821.shtml. Developed by William Beebe.

Applications for Jesktop can be found at http://jesktopapps.sourceforge.net/apps/ and http://www.jesktop.com/installables/.
