The earliest record of the name Jesiah is found in the bible. Referred to as Isshiah and then translated to Jessiah and finally shortened to Jesiah. He was said to be an ally of David at Ziklag. (Bible, 1 Chr. 12:6. B.C. 1055). He was also known as the second son of Uzziel, the son of Kohath. (1 Chronicles 23:20).
The name Jesiah means: "Sprinkling of the Lord" and "whom Jehovah lends".
More detail is found once researching the original name Isshiah - is-shi'-a (yishshiyahu). What we know about the man that the name Jesiah came from is, 1. a Korhite, one of David's mighty warriors who joined him at Ziklag 2. the 5th of 5 sons of Izrahiah and one of the heads of the tribe of Issachar in the time of David 3. a Levite, the 2nd son of Uzziel and grandson of Kohath (1 Chronicles 23:20) 4. another Levite, son of Rehabiah 5. a descendant of Harim who had a foreign wife (Ezr 10:31)
