Jesús María Zamora
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jesús María Zamora Ansorena (born: 1 January 1955) is a former Spanish footballer. He played for the Spain national football team, earning 30 caps and scoring 3 goals. He took part in the 1980 European Football Championship and 1982 FIFA World Cup. On the club level, he played for Real Sociedad between 1974 and 1989.
His finest hour as a player undoubtedly came on the last game day (and literally the last second of play) during the 1980/1981 Spanish League season, as Zamora scored the tying goal for Real Sociedad away at Sporting de Gijon. The goal tallied the needed point for the 'donostiarras' to claim their first ever Spanish championship at the hands of a Real Madrid in disbelief, whose players were already celebrating their 1-3 win at Valladolid, only to be told about Zamora's feat over a radio broadcast.
