Jersey cards

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jersey Cards are baseball, football, basketball and other sports collector cards that have a small piece of the players jersey in the card.

[edit] Rarity

Even though more and more Card Companies are picking up the jersey card idea they are becoming even rarer and rarer. The reason for that is becase of the fact most are now serial numbered, which means on the back of the card there are two engraved numbers that state which of the existing cards is yours and how many were made (i.e. 11/50).

[edit] Types Of Jersey Cards

The average jersey card is about 3/4 of an inch. However the size may differ by product. One of the types of jersey cards is a jumbo swatch. This gigantic piece of jersey is about 5 times the size of the regular jersey card. The serial numbering is low(usually 50 copies of less) Another type of jersey care that is ofter eye catching is the jersey patch. It is a jersey card that has at least 2 different colors of jersey on it. These cards are also rare, often numbered to 35 copies of less. One more type is an event worn jersey. It was worn in a special event, such as the NBA Draft, NBA All Star Game, Super Bowl, and other events. These cards are not as rare as the others that I just spoke of,but lots of them are numbered. In racing, there are pieces of tire from a specific car, pieces of the flags, and other things from the racetrack. Apart from the average jersey card, there are other cards. I could not possibly name them all, but there are basketball shorts jersey cards and other cards like that. Some jersey cards even have pieces of a hat that was worn in the NBA draft. Some of these are even Autographed! The Rarest kind of jersey card is called a patch card. It is an official logo from a player's jersey. Examples are the NBA logo, the NFL logo, and other logos. Each card is a 1of1, meaning that only 1 copy was made. These cards are the rarest kinds of Jersey cards.
