Jerry Schemmel

Jerry Schemmel is the radio announcer for the NBA basketball team Denver Nuggets. He is also a survivor of the crash-landing of United Airlines flight 232 on July 19, 1989. Not only did he survive, he returned to the wreckage and rescued an 11 month old baby. His book, Chosen to Live describes the experience.
He was hired by the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League in 2007 to announce their minor league baseball games on radio. He previously called a limited schedule of Colorado Springs Sky Sox games on cable television. Schemmel will continue as the voice of the Nuggets.
Schemmel is a 1982 graduate of Washburn University; he earned a law degree from the same school in 1985. He briefed served as the Deputy Commissioner of Continental Basketball Association.
