Jerry Belson

Jerry Belson (born in El Centro, California on July 8, 1938) ^[1] was a writer, director, and producer of Hollywood films for over forty years.

Some of Belson's writing credits include the Steven Spielberg films Always^[2] and Close Encounters of the Third Kind^[3], several episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show^[4] and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., ^[5], and I Spy^[6]

Additionally, Belson helped produce The Drew Carey Show,^[7] The Norm Show^[8], and The Tracey Ullman Show^[9]

Jerry Belson passed away ^[10] in Los Angeles, California on October 10, 2006 after a long battle with prostate cancer. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann and three children.
