Jerome Lane (born December 4, 1966, in Akron, Ohio) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 1988 NBA Draft. Lane played in 5 NBA seasons for the Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers. He played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh. Lane attended Akron Saint Vincent-Saint Mary high school.

Jerome Lane is best known as a rebounder in the manner of Dennis Rodman. Lane's jump shot was never consistent, nor was his foul shooting. Nevertheless, with his quick and powerful moves in the paint coupled with an uncanny knack for rebounding, Lane could often dominate games. While an undergraduate, the burly 6'6 power forward led the nation in rebounding in 1987. His most famous moment came on January 25, 1988 in a game on ESPN against Providence when he broke a glass backboard with a thunderous one-handed dunk over an opposing player. The dunk would be immortalized by announcer Bill Raftery's call: "Send it in, Jerome!" Lane also proved an adept ball-handler as well as rebounder while at Pitt. During the late 1980s, Lane and fellow forward, 6'11 Charles Smith led a talented University of Pittsburgh basketball team into the National spotlight.
