Jerold Siena appeared at the Metropolitan Opera as Don Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro in 2002. He had a great triumph as the Captain in Wozzeck for the Dallas Opera followed by his Guillot in Manon in 2001. In 2000 he was at the Metropolitan Opera for Hoffmann and Rosenkavalier and appeared as Don Basilio in Santa Fe Opera's new production of Le Nozze di Figaro. Mr. Siena has distinguished himself on operatic and concert stages throughout the world, combining both outstanding acting and vocal skills in a wide variety of character roles. Some important recent appearances have included: Bayerische Staatsoper, München, in Turandot, Koln for his reprise of Caius, the new Metropolitan Opera production of Susannah and Brussels in their new Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. In 1998 he performed the role of Demo in Cavalli's Giasone for the Spoleto Festival in Charleston and in Chicago as Rev Horace Adams in Peter Grimes as well as Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro. A highlight of 1998 was his Auctioneer in The Rake's Progress for the Metropolitan Opera, including the broadcast. He debuted in Köln as Caius in their new Falstaff under Mo Conlon in spring 1997. Summer 1997 featured his Pong in Rome's Turandot. On the concert stage he has performed with, among others, the symphony orchestras of Boston Opera, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland Opera under conductors such as Leinsdorf, Szell, Shaw, and Previn. Since his debut with the New York City Opera, he has performed more than 50 different roles, including Pirelli in Sweeney Todd, Beppe in Pagliacci, Pang in Turandot, and Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte, and was seen as Remendado in that company's Live from Lincoln Center Carmen.

Mr. Siena has appeared throughout the United States in roles such as The Magician in Menotti's The Consul (telecast from Spoleto), and the Servants in Les Contes d'Hoffmann with the Portland Opera and has also performed with the opera companies of Philadelphia, Baltimore, Montreal, the Canadian Opera in Toronto, L'Opera de Montreal, Opera Columbus Cleveland Opera.

During the past ten years career highlights have included: Beppe for a new Zeffirelli Pagliacci in Rome; a return to Spoleto for a recital and Augustin Moser in Die Meistersinger; three gala concerts in Japan; Cassio in Napoli's season-opening Otello (and Guillot in their Manon); Arturo in Roma's season-opening Lucia; and the Tanzmeister in Houston's Ariadne auf Naxos. He appeared in Nice in 1993 (Dancaire in Carmen) and 1994 (Spoleta in Tosca), and Houston as the Ice Cream Vendor in Street Scene. This was followed by his Nederlandse Opera debut as Caius in their Falstaff conducted by Chailly followed by his Arena di Verona debut as Cassio in Otello. 1995 began as La Monnaie (Brussels) in Tabarro and Gianni Schicchi and he remained in Brussels as the Captain in Wozzeck in March. His Dallas Opera debut as Goro began the 1995-96 season which he also performed in Japan (Mo Ozawa) in May. Mr. Siena performed at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in four different operas in 1996-1997.

In summer 2000 Mr. Siena gave master classes in Salzburg returned there last summer, and will do so again the coming summer.
