Jernløse municipality

Jernløse municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in northeastern West Zealand County on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 103 km², and has a population of 5,943 (2005). Its mayor is Annica Granstrøm representing Venstre, Denmark's Liberal Party.

The site of the municipal council is the town of Regstrup.

Neighboring municipalities are Tølløse to the southeast, Holbæk to the east and north, Tornved to the west, and Dianalund and Stenlille to the south.

On January 1, 2007 Jernløse municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Holbæk, Svinninge, Tornved, and Tølløse municipalities to form a new Holbæk municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 583 km² and a total population of 66,611 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland ("Region Zealand").
