Hardy was undrafted in 2005 and signed as a free agent by the Arizona Cardinals. He was released prior to the regular season and re-signed to the team's practice squad. He would spend just a week there before being released, but he was signed to the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers just days later. In December, Hardy was elevated from the team's practice squad to the active roster. Playing in three games his rookie season, Hardy notched one tackle and one forced fumble. His season ended on January 4, 2006 when he was placed on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury.

In the 2006 offseason, Hardy was re-signed to a one-year, $350,000 deal as an exclusive rights free agent. Hardy was once again cut following training camp, and despite workouts with the New York Giants and New England Patriots he was not signed and did not play football that season.

On February 20, 2007 Hardy was signed by the San Francisco 49ers and will be allocated to NFL Europa this spring.
