The JSD is Jericho's primary line of law enforcement. Originating from a staff of seven deputies and the Sheriff, 5 of them, including the Sheriff, were killed in the pilot episode.
[edit] Equipment
The Jericho Sheriff's Department had five, 2000 era Ford Crown Victoria patrol cars, one 2000 era Ford Explorer, and one mid 90's Ford Crown Victoria; four of the 2000s Ford Crown Victoria were lost or stolen in the pilot episode along with the Ford Explorer, and the two others have been shown in episodes "Fallout", "The Walls of Jericho", and "Federal Response". The cars were rendered unusable by an EMP that hit in episode "9:02", but are shown in the background in "Crossroads", when Jake ran to tell Stanley that the town was going to blow the bridge, and Gray Anderson sits on the hood of one of the patrol cars in the "Red Flag" waiting for Bill and Rob to start up the generator left from the Chinese air drop.

[edit] Gracie Leigh Murder

- Episode: Red Flag and Vox Populi
- Description: Gracie Leigh was found on the floor the day after she was stabbed to death. Following this discovery, an unoficial manhunt was commenced for Jonah Prowse, the first alleged suspect. After an encounter between Dale Turner and Cafferty, Jonah Prowse was exiled and a new manhunt was commenced for Mitchell Cafferty.

- Suspect(s): Victor Miller (deseased)
- Episode(s): Walls of Jericho
- Description: Shep Cale's truck was found in an alley, with a broken window with blood on it. After the descovery of a Denver refugee, Victor Miller, it was speculated that he found Shep's truck on the side of the road running.

- Suspect(s): Robert Hawkins (cleared)
- Episode(s): Rogue River
- Description: After suspison from Gray Anderson, he and Jimmy Taylor visit the Hawkins' residence to find out why they moved to Jericho when they did. While investigating, it is revealed that Robert Hawkins is working for the FBI and was relocated to Jericho.

- Suspect(s): Sarah Mason (Wanted)
- Episode(s): Heart of Winter
- Description: After an African American woman is seen driving in the woods, a body is discovered and it is believed that Sarah Manson killed him and tried to bury his body.

- Description: After a mushroom cloud is seen over Denver it is learned in Jericho that it was a terrorist attack.
[edit] Deputy Bill Erikson
Bill Erikson is one of the original Sheriff's Deputies. He was one of the deputies who took down Jonah Prowse for murdering Gracie Leigh.
Deputy Bill Erikson is played by Richard Speight, Jr.
[edit] Deputy Eric Green
Became a deputy because of the reduced manpower and because of his status as Deputy Mayor. He helped take down Mitchel Cafferty for stealing horses from his family's ranch.
Deputy Eric Green is played by Kenneth Mitchell.
[edit] Deputy Jimmy Taylor
Jimmy Taylor is one of the original Sheriff's Deputies. He was first shown when he went to tell Johnston Green that his son Woody saw the mushroom cloud over Denver.
Deputy Jimmy Taylor is played by Bob Stephenson.
[edit] Deputy Robert Hawkins
Became a deputy at the request of Jimmy Taylor. Part of his fake identity is that he was a St. Louis Police Officer. Robert Hawkins helped interrogate Sean for the whereabouts of Mitchel Cafferty.
Deputy Robert Hawkins is played by Lennie James.

[edit] Sheriff Dawes
Sheriff Dawes was Jericho's highest law enforcer until he was murdered while investigating a bus crash. He made a fatal realization that it was a prison bus and was shot by an escaped convict. He was the first person in Jericho who met Robert Hawkins and shooed him away when Hawkins suggested covering up the JERICHO SHERIFF written on the side of the patrol cars. The last person Dawes talked to was Jimmy Taylor on the radio.
Sheriff Dawes was portrayed by Leon Russom.
[edit] Deputy Riley
Riley was a Deputy Sheriff who was killed by convicts. In the beginning, he seemed very paranoid about radiation and the blast being a terrorist attack. In the patrol car he is seen fixated on the Geiger counter.
Riley was portrayed by Robert C. Koch.
[edit] Deputy Connor
Deputy Connor was killed in the pilot episode.
[edit] Deputy Salem
Deputy Salem was killed in the pilot epsiode.
[edit] Deputy Sarah
Deputy Sarah was last shown trying to contact the outside world on the ham radio near the end of the pilot episode, but has not been shown or referred to since.
Sarah was portrayed by Princess Lucaj.
