Jeremiah Palecek
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jeremiah Palecek (born January 24 1978) is a painter and sound artist. He grew up in Bismarck North Dakota. He attended the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, The Glasgow School of Art and received his BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He currently resides in Prague, Czech Republic.
Jeremiah's work as a painter is primarily known on the internet as his work tends to focus on painting the digital world. These paintings include but are not limited to paintings of video games, television shows, and film. His work is propelled by the geek community and much of his success can be attributed to large online blogs such as Boingboing.net who have featured his work. While much of his work inhabits the digital realm he also recently participated in the Proces Prague festival which was curated by Mark Divo. During the exhibition he installed a room which resembled a teenage boy's where one could sit on a bed, play guitar, and video games. He also collaborated with Travis Jeppesen to produce the book "Poems I wrote while watching TV" for BLATT Books.
Jeremiah has also maintained a Painting Blog since May of 2005 where he frequently posts his new works. Through his blog and a huge amount of inbound links on the internet Jeremiah became very successful selling works directly through his blog. Thus bypassing traditional ways of marketing and selling artwork.
