Jenő Takács

Jenő Takács (September 25, 1902 – November 14, 2005) was an Austrian composer of Hungarian extraction.
Born in Siegendorf, Burgenland, He studied at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Joseph Marx and Paul Weingarten. He was a professor at the conservatories of Cairo, Manila, Pécs and Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1970 he returned to Siegendorf.
Takács received many awards during his long life, including the Great Cross of Burgenland (1962), the Austrian State Prize (1963), the Prize of the Bartók-Pászthory-Foundation (1990) and the Gold Medal of Honour of the City of Vienna (1993).
He died in 2005 at the age of 103.
