Jegun

Jegun is a village situated in the heart of Gascogne, in the Gers in the south-west of France.

There are about 1100 inhabitants. The village covers an area of 3 924 hectars and is 17km from Auch. The village was founded in the XI th century and fortified around 1180 by Bernard IV, count of Armagnac. It is a "bastide", the original layout is still preserved today. In 1577, Henri de Navarre also known as Henry the IVth hid in one of the streets ("La Grande Rue", the Central Street of the village) to escape enemy troupes commanded by Villars, the Governor of Guyenna.

Many tourists visit the village in the summer, when, every sunday morning there is a food market. There are also many walks and villages in the area, including Lavardens and Castera Verduzan.
