What a total let-down, the very first time I actually remembered a template without spending 10 minutes searching for the thing, and I was so thrilled to get the template right the first time. Jeff, you are doing great research and formatting, but surving the AfD process requires some subtle tact, and I'm pretty good at saving articles from getting axed. You've got some tough opponents at the AfD. I'm working with Terdiman directly by email to get some background information and more sources. In the mean time we have to be careful to avoid some errors in referencing etc. which will piss-off more sticklers for form. Specifically, his resume is not a reference -- it is not independent. Some of the other sources are marginal, and there are really specific reasons why I describe them like I have. Remember we can't use primary research at WP.

You are over fussing with this article. I'm trying to get the Delete voters to take another look. Adding those headers "main article" etc. made it look like a resume. It's a good format with good information as it sits now. Let me try to get some better references from Dan and let it be, if you want to win the AfD.

I'm sory about not making notes, I'm trying to get in and out quickly since we are both editing. I don't have time to put up the "sign" and I've never seen anyone else use it before.

Jeff,

I have asked Dan for specifics on his Martha Stewart Weddings, The American Lawyer articles, which he said are not online. The BBC and NPR work was as a consultant; I have asked for clarification and some way to reference these. I hope to have more on this tomorrow.

I appologize if I have been hard to work with on this. You are correct that my work-style can be a bit non-commnicative with others. Sorry. I have definately learned a few good tricks from you today. I'm not much on formatting. Usually when I am working to save an article from AfD, I move pretty fast to avoid an accumulation of Delete votes which are very hard to overcome.

I can see that you were trying to build an article and the AfD process jumped all over your work-in-process. I've had the same thing happen. It sucks, because once you get to AfD, your article has to meet the standards which are seldom met by other articles at WP. I build my articles offline in Word and then paste the content to WP once they are pretty sturdy.

Jeff,

You can't just copy photos off the web and paste them at WP. You are not helping to save this article. At this point we are about 50 - 50 that we can win. This behavior will prejudice people against the article. Please jsut leave it alone until AfD is over.

Jeff,

It looks very likely that we can keep the Terdiman article if we approach things well and tactfully for a couple of more days. One of the delete votes Alf, has indicateda willingness to change his vote if we can demonstrate better references. I think that the references are there, but confusing in the footnote format, because the jewels are lost within the many references to the articles which Dan has written.

Tarinth has expressed an interest in supporting the article as well but is hanging back. I've worked along with him in AfD before; I think that he will vote for a keep, but I think his stand-off is to keep us working on finding more and better sources.

I think that we can make some progress by reformatting the footnotes to eliminate so many references to Dan's work, and incorporate all of his work in one section with a footnote within the text referencing that section. Why don't you give me some time to try this and then we can revert to the way it is if it looks bad to either of us. I'll let you know when I'm done.

I'm done with the changes. I think that it eliminates some confusion and makes the first paragraph less confusing with fewer distracting footnote symbols. What do you think?

I did not remove the link to Dan's resume, which was removed by Wickethewok. I would leave it alone and not get him more angry.

Thanks. That worked, but the bibliographic style we ended up with was inconsistent (and contrary to what I was taught). I applied a consistent bibliographic style, although I'm thinking about moving the parentheticals outside the links. I agree about leaving out the resume. Yes, please ease up on the "say something stupid again comments," however, thank you 172.197.40.4 for finding this paper for me, it was driving me bonkers trying to remember what it was. Jeff this user provided me with something I really needed that was driving me insane looking for it. I knew CC Poindexter had done something besides start the first African American fraternity, but, I could find no references on the internet at all. This user provided me with EXACTLY what I had seen before but could not find, an article by CC Poindexter on the embryology of maize done in the early part of the 20th century, rather obscure, and I would not have found it again because I avoid monocots like the plague, had found it through a university database that I don't usually use, and had only seen while researching maize embryology for a friend a few months ago. So, it wasn't vandalism, this user provided me with something valuable that I was seeking that I could not find without his/her help, and I would appreciate, in spite of the injudice use of irritating comments here, if you would unblock this user who has provided something valuable to writing an article about a minor but noteworthy figure who contributed in a few areas. I noticed you write out a link from Wikipedia to a project-space page by hand. Thanks for helping with WP:ASR; I thought I'd tell you about the {{srlink}} template, which makes these links easier to understand for readers and also faster to type. Thanks. I considered using your {{srlink}} template, but my intent was to make sure that this article Wikipedia, in particular, no matter where or when it is referenced in the future, refers to this webpage http://en.wikipedia.com/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_as_a_source, in particular. The template page's code itself Template:Srlink tells me that it cannot do this job exactly. HOWEVER, further research has shown me that the equivalent link it creates, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3AWikipedia+as+a+source, which redirects to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_as_a_source, is just as good for my purposes, so I'm setting out to change to {{srlink|Wikipedia:Wikipedia as a source}}, which evaluates as Wikipedia:Wikipedia as a source. -- Jeff G. Jeff,

I noticed some activity at my talk page about Poindexter. There is some weird background to this. I got involved with this at AfD. It seems that the admin who deleted the article is somehow involved in the process and was uncooperative about letting me access the text for a rewrite. There is a battle of opinions at the main fraternity site including an editor who has been banned and is suspected of being a sockpuppet behind other names. It all got too weird for me.

Do you just summarily revert or do you actually read what is being deleted. The user in question was asking me to do something; so how can he have a issue with my behavior since I had not and I indicated that I would not perform the task he requested. Hello JeffGent, the comments at issue on his page were placed there by a sock of banned User:Mykungfu.[2] The banned editor is clearly taunting User:Ccson by attempting to goad him into placing a sock warning on the user page for User:Real96 which was checkusered inconclusive as a sock. The banned editor cut and pasted the same message on the pages of several editors who reported him/her previously. Yes, I have mistakenly used one of my home IP Addresses 24.90.165.192 to post to Wikipedia on three occasions after forgetting to login, and I'm sorry about that, I'm new here. Yes, I have once questioned and once reverted Ccson's wholesale deletion of taunting by MKF and its detestable sockpuppets. I don't approve of sockpuppetry, but OTOH I don't approve of wholesale deletion without sufficient explanation. If you review my many contributions, you will see that I became interested in Wikipedia a little over a month ago, found a redlink Daniel Terdiman in its article Wikipedia, went about creating an article Daniel Terdiman, got much assistance from Kevin Murray with saving that article from an AfD, and have been conversing with Kevin about that article and other topics on various pages (for instance, we're currently working together to try to save article Redhouse Yacht Club). I also hate throwing anything away and have an affinity for rule systems (including in this case punctuation and the policies relevant to talk pages). So it should come as no surpise that I became interested by User talk:Kevin Murray#Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion.2FCharles_C._Poindexter and posted this and just three minutes later (realizing my mistake of not having put a space in front of my sig) corrected my sig here. Frequent misspelling of Article per Special:Search/Aritcle and about 194,000 hits on Google. On a QWERTY computer keyboard used by someone who is touch typing, this misspelling will occur frequently because the right middle finger reaching North for the "I" key is much faster than the left index finger reaching Northeast for the "T" key (assuming the typist is facing North). {{stub}}

  1. Please do not leave me boilerplate templates on Wikipedia policy. I've been here a while and made a few contributions and I know our policies pretty well.
  2. With regard to censorship - "Wikipedia is not censored" is a notice to readers that they may find things here that might offend them. It is not an obligation forced on us to include things into articles. We can take out whatever we want.
  3. Your message is not very specific. I haven't editted that article in quite some time. Instead of a boilerplate template, perhaps you could provide a diff of an edit of the specific edit that brought you to my talk page.

Sorry for the delay in relying; I've been on a mini-Wikibreak due to issues at work and related problems. I hadn't noticed TV Acres being particularly noxious, but if you see a better link, that would probably be better than adding a disclaimer. I also noticed that lots and lots of web pages (some news, some blogs) still cite the quote in passing, but offhand couldn't see any useful way to mention this. The intent was mostly to find an online definition that wasn't too woolly or rude. Also (and I haven't looked again and may be misremembering), that TV Acres page had extremely similar text to the Wikipedia article about the character before I edited the latter away from it. I never wrote that your edits were racist; perhaps you confused me with someone else. In my only post to your user talk page, I objected to what seemed to be your personal attack on one or more prior editors of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas soundtrack, "god, are u frickn stupid?", in your edit summary here. You could have pointed out that diff in the first place. While I agree with you that there should be no hate and no hatemongering, including on Wikipedia, I think the way you were trying to accomplish that goal with the edit I reverted was flawed. Hi, and thanks for getting back to me. FTR, the image was Image:Pecorino-romano.jpg, since deleted. You may not have uploaded that image, but you wrote Template:Sxc-warning and Template:Contact, you appear to have more than a passing interest in Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images#SXC images (you wrote this there), and if memory serves, you edited that image's page. I count you as one of three users I notified about that image. Putting the notification issue behind us, I have had some trouble using my sig with your Template:Contact, so I created Template:Contactsig as an alternative. Here's how it currently looks (substed for historical purposes and so I can kill the cat shortly):

I have a couple of questions? Why have you decided that this page (Daniel Miller-Medzon) is not notable? If you really cared, why hasn't this page: Gabriel Plass which has a link from mine which is a no better page, been deleted as well? Just because you haven't heard of the person doesn't mean you can delete what you want. I feel that this was a bad decision.
