Jefferson State Community College, less formally known as Jeff State, is a two-year community college located in northeastern Birmingham, Alabama. Jefferson State offers a variety of associate's degrees.

While the public perception of community colleges remains negative, these institutions enable countless students a chance to earn credits in order to transfer over to larger Universities who otherwise would not have had such opportunities. Also, the smaller classrooms enables a teacher/student dynamic to develop which many major universities lack. This assists the student in relating the information to things he or she already knows.

Jeff State is known for Math, Science, and Building Science departments which rival those of regional universities in difficulty.
