Jeff Browaty serves as a city councillor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was elected in the North Kildonan ward on October 25th 2006 defeating eleven-year incumbent Mark Lubosch. Jeff is currently the Chair of the Mayor's Environmental Advisory Committee and a member of the Standing Committee on Infrastructure Renewal & Public Works, Riverbank Management, Winnipeg Housing Renewal Corporation, City Hall Secretariat Committee and the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

Before engaging in professional politics, Browaty worked as a real-estate appraiser for his father's company, Dennis T. Browaty & Associates, after completing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Manitoba's I.H. Asper School of Business.

Jeff began his professional political career as a staffer to Manitoba PC Leader Stuart Murray and then to local Member of Parliament Joy Smith. On October 25th 2006, Jeff Browaty, a political novice, defeated incumbent Mark Lubosch. Browaty received 6,820 votes (52%) to Mark Lubosch's 4,563 (35%). Candidate James Viehweg placed third with 1,712 votes (13%). Browaty's victory was largely thought to have been primarily resultant from traffic issues. Public outcry over speedbumps and a street closure that limited access to Lagimodière Boulevard as well as the sluggish progress towards the extension of the Chief Peguis Trail (to Lagimodiere Boulevard) were the issues that Browaty appeared to capitalize on.

At 29, Jeff "Sonic" Browaty was the oldest City councillor elected in 2006 that still lives at home with his parents. In just 4 short months Jeff has managed to reverse one city by-law , a developers agreement and also make Winnipeg the first city in Canada to reject a Tim Hortons franchise.
