Jeff Bate

Henry Jefferson Percival "Jeff" Bate (b. 5 March 1906, Tilba Tilba - d. 15 April 1984 in Canberra) was an Australian politician.
He was a member of the Legislative Assembly for almost eleven years representing the former electoral district of Wollondilly for the Liberal Party of Australia and then the House of Representatives member for Macarthur from 1949 until 1972.
He was educated at Newington College, The King's School and the University of Sydney before farming at Bodalla, Wallaga Lake and Tilba Tilba. During World War II he served in 2nd Australian Imperial Forces as a Lieutenant.
He was married three times, most notably on 19 February 1969 to Zara Holt, widow of former Prime Minister Harold Holt.
He died in Canberra on 15 April 1984, aged 78.[1]
