Jef Vanderveken

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jef Vanderveken was a Belgian copyist. He mastered the art of reproducing the works of Jan van Eyck and also created, with his banker's funds, the famous Renders collection. In 1945 he produced a copy of the stolen Ghent Altarpiece panel The Just Judges.

In 1941, Hermann Göring bought the Renders collection for 300 kilograms of gold, worth about 2 million euros (2003).
