Jed Hensley (2/28/92-) Jed Hensley is Most Notable for his work with the Special Olympics. Jed is currently the Youngest Volunteer and Assistant Coach in the State of Texas for his help toward the Special Olympics. Jed has been helping the Special Olympics for currently 6 years, and is planning on doing it as long as he can.

[edit] The Beginning [1992-1999]
Jed Hensley was born as Jedidiah B. Hensley in Sherman, Texas on February 28, 1992 to his parents Sherri and Bryan Hensley, and is Currently living in Denison, Texas since 1994. In July 1999, at age 7 on the way home from the airport Jed got intrested in Volunteering with his grandmother in helping her with the Special Olympics. After they talked about it he decided to become there youngest Assistant Coach, but he still wasnt sure. So in September 1999, Jed saw the Team Practice and decided to start helping in the 2000 season. Jed would start his new volunteering position in March 2000.

Starting on March 24, 2000; Jed had started volunteering with the Texoma Tornadoes. Jed had stated in 2004 "He has been very happy with the work he has done with Special Olympics and plans on doing more in the future. Sheila Hensley, Jed's grandmother has got him involved with his work with the work with them. She is very pleased with his work with them and plans on him doing more in the future. In 2001, Jed had started work traveling with the team to Competitions, but didnt goto the State Competition with them till 2003. In 2004, Jed started traveling with them to Dallas for there trip to a Tennis Clinic in Dallas at T BAR M Raquet Club. Jed will continue his work in September 2006 with the Bowling Season.
[edit] Jed's Time Off!
On his time off Jed likes to hang out with friends at the movies and talk on the Phone. But in June 2006, the team announced they might be doing a year round season plan. They would add Bocce and bring Golf back for a Fall/Winter Season in 2007. Jed said he would most likely not be returning to the team during that season. But his decision is unfinal.
[edit] Texoma Tornadoes
The Texoma Tornadoes was formed in Denison, Texas in 1986 as a Special Olympics Team. The Athletes play Golf, Track, Bowling, Tennis, Cycling, and Rythamic Gymnastics. But in the late 90's they had to Drop Golf and Rythamic Gymnastics due to money problems. Every Year the Team asks for Donations from local buisnesses in the area so they will have enough money to make the trip to the State Compitition. But the Event that donates the most is the Lakefest Regatta on Lake Texoma. There contributions to the team is at least $7,000 a year.
[edit] Jed at the Competitions
In 2001 Jed had started traveling with the team to many locations in Special Olympics Area 10: Greater Dallas. But it wasn't until 2003, Jed started going to the State Competition in San Marcos, Texas. Every 3 Years they travel to a diffrent location [ex: 3 years in San Marcos, 3 years Arlington]. In May 2006 they went to Arlington to the University of Texas at Arlington [UTA]. In 2008, they will Travel to a New Location.
