Jed Donahue

"Jalapeño" Jed Donahue is a competitive eater from Huntington Beach, CA, and a top-ranked member of International Federation of Competitive Eating (home page). Donahue is a grizzled veteran who has maintained a boyish, optimistic attitude to eating. He secured his title as the jalapeño pepper eating champion of the world by consuming 152 jalapeños in 15 minutes at the George Washington's Birthday Celebration in Laredo, Texas.

His attempt to earn the title of Jalapeño King in 1992 is chronicled in the short film "Jalapeño" by John Stobaugh which ran on Austin, Texas access cablevision for many years.

Recently, Donahue has earned kudos for performances in grilled cheese (23 grilled cheese sandwiches in 10 minutes), donuts (30.5 glazed doughnuts in 8 minutes) and a win in the 84 Lumber baked bean eating championship in Chandler, AZ (84 ounces in 1 minutes, 45 seconds). He is known is the competitive eating circuit as a smart, affable and ambitious eater.

James Edward Donahue ("Jed") is a 1991 graduate of James W. Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, as well as a 1995 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
