In the fictional Star Wars universe, Executive Order 66 was issued by Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars (shown in Revenge of the Sith). Although the order effectively succeeding in purging the galaxy of the Jedi Order, there were a few survivors, many of whom were later instrumental in the Empire's fall.
