[edit] Against poverty: improving education and communication-skills

On this page I will communicate with young people in Africa in order to create Wikipedia-articles with them.--Jeanpol 05:46, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The next step

  • Each project-participant should set up an userpage in the Englisch-Wikipedia (the English one is more usefull for our purpose than the German one)
  • Each participant should write an article (or if an article is already wrote, improve it) about his special-knowledge, so for instance Tadele and Melese about Bahr Dahr, Abedje about Lalibela and so on.

Here the article about Bahr Dahr in the English Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahar_Dar

[edit] For Melese (in German)

Sep 2006 (CEST)

[edit] A mail from Abeje (Lalibela)

It is outstanding, isn't it?--Jeanpol 17:34, 8. Sep 2006 (CEST)

[edit] I received an answer from Engdawork too

"Dear Prof.Jean-Pol Martin, I thank you very much for giving young "hungry" Ethiopians the possibility to expand their communicatin skills, which is a tremdenous step towards the bright future of the young people here. Here I therefore want to communicate more with you and other participants of this netline. I anyway need some time to sit and think of worthful ideas which centre the desire of us young people. For now thank you very much for the very first link you gave us. Have a wonderful Ethiopian New Year 1999 (= 11 th of September 2006 ). Truely Engdawork.

[edit] My answer to Engdawork

Dear Engdawork, Thank you very much for answering so fast. I'm very pleased to read it. Of course, we don't have to precipitate us. Step by step is the right way. My opinion is, that we don't have to communicate about politics (I think, its to dangerous for the African participants) but just about articles that we create (or if already existent, that we improve) in the Wikipedia. That way, the young people (you, Abeje, Tedele, Mesele, Seble and so on) will develop their internet-communication-skills. These skills are very important for the future an for your careers. The more people are skilled, the more they can promote themselves, their land and face the problems in the world. As I said, the first step could be to present yourselve (with short words) on the page from Melese. Than you can chose an Wikipedia-article an write on it. If you don't know how, we show you how it works. So you will meet other skilled people. And skilled people can develop each other. Here the page from Melese: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer_Diskussion:Melese Very kind regards! Jean-Pol Martin

[edit] Articles you can improve

Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, Lalibela, Addis Ababa

[edit] Beyond the Wikipedia-article:

we should focuse our reflection on following topics: poverty, communication, education. Communication and education are the keys to fight against poverty!--Jeanpol 05:36, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Abeje and Seble wrote the beginning of the article "Rock-hewn churches of Lalibela"

Here: Rock-hewn churches of Lalibela.--Jeanpol 16:46, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The last message from Seble and Abedje

"dear jean-pol, we get the message from you and it is good that as you told us article about lalibela is already exist. so we want hints from you what type of article is better which is much related to Lalibela b/c it enable us to write articles easily. sorry for our being late it is due to the bad connection of the internet and also due we have a lack of accessing internet service which include the cost (per minute 2 birr you may remember when you were in lalibela). However, we have to try our best as much as we able to communicate. keep in touch! seble and abeje" --Jeanpol 15:53, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] And now Melese again

Dear prof.jean-pol Sorry that I couldn’t replay your e-mail soon ,the reason is I couldn’t get access to use internet . To browse the web sit of wikipidia it takes at lest one hour to display the main page .so it costs me a lot of money .i tried to get free access to use internet, any way I browse my user page at German wikipidia ., I read all messages you wrote in my user page, thank you very much and i reed messages form all participations . I am preparing an article about Bahir dar . When ever I get the access to use the internet, i will write the article in my user page. I think you know the problem. your’s melese

My answer: Dear Melese, I'm very glad that you are so sustainable and thank you for your committment! Of course I understand the problems and my opinion is, that we have to insist and make pressure on the governements in order to help your country having better internet-access. We stay in touch! Your very sincerely Jean-Pol Martin
