Jeannie Paterson

Jeannie Marie Paterson is a Senior Lecturer in Contract Law at Monash University, Clayton, Victoria , Australia. She is married to Ian Paterson who is a partner of Mallesons Stephen Jaques and together have three female children.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), a Bachelor of Laws and a PhD Doctor of Philosophy in Contract Law and has had extensive experience in banking and finance law at Mallesons Stephen Jaques, a top-tier Australian law firm.

Jeannie frequently mentions in her lectures in LAW2101 and LAW2102 lectures at Monash University that she had to be in private practice before she could become an academic. When Jeannie completed her Articles of Clerkship together with Jonathan Clough, another law academic at Monash who now specialises in Criminal Law, Jeannie conducted extensive research for a leading Australian case concerning contract law on behalf of Mallesons Stephen Jaques.

She has co-written two major Australian textbooks on Contract Law:

Amongst that she has also published a thesis in 2004 entitled Good Faith in commercial contracts. It is available in a manuscript form at the *Monash University Law Library

Jeannie also holds regular conferences and publishes various other papers such as Women and Careers published in *Monash Magazine
