Jean Nouvel

Jean Nouvel (born 12 August 1945) is a French architect.

Born in Fumel, Lot-et-Garonne, he was educated at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was a founding member of Mars 1976 and Syndicat de l'Architecture. In 2005, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art hosted a major retrospective of his works.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt was named after him, as Pitt is a fan of his work.

  • In April 2007, Jean Nouvel associated with Marshall Day Acoustics Ltd win architecture competition to build a new Orchestra Hall (Philharmonie de Paris) in Paris, close to Cité de la musique (Opening in 2012)
  • The Centre for Sustainable Development in Le Havre, France. Project including the construction of a 120m high tower on a former seaport area.
