Jean Marot (Mathieu, near Caen, c. 1450 - Paris, c. 1526) was a French poet and the father of French Renaissance poet Clément Marot. He is often grouped with the "Grands Rhétoriqueurs". In 1506 he became secretary to Anne of Brittany and later became the official poet of the kings Louis XII of France and François I of France.
