Jean Knoertzer

Jean Knoertzer is a French animator and film director. He has released many animated films in France.

Knoertzer owns many rare original cels, layout and backgrounds. His collection includes work from animation films of The Walt Disney Company, René Laloux, Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Don Bluth, and many more.

His most important work is Itaf, released in 1998. Knoertzer received the Silver Clap prize at the Sens Film Festival. This film is the story of Itaf the camel and Joan, a young boy. They are inseparable friends who have strange and fabulous encounters. The story continues with a new chapter in Itaf Final.

Léonard is a comical film. It portrays a painter Léonard and his desire for his most beautiful painting.

Knoertzer also made Junior, an adventure story. Junior lives in a strange universe with monsters.

All of these animation films used the traditional cel technique.
