Jean-Marie Basset

Jean-Marie Basset (born June 9, 1943) is a French chemist.
Professor Basset received in 1969 his PhD from the University of Lyon, France. After a postdoctoral position in Toronto he moved to the Institute of Catalysis in Lyon where he became vice-director. Then he created the laboratory of surface organometallic chemistry at CPE - Lyon where he is presently the Scientific Director. He earned together with Prof. Wolfgang A. Herrmann the renowned scientific research award 1991 from Max Planck Society.
He is the author of 319 publications and 45 patents. His main research interests are the relations between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, the metathesis of olefins and alkanes as well as the Ziegler–Natta depolymerization.
