Jean-Baptiste Élissalde is a French rugby union footballer.
Born in La Rochelle, he is the son of Jean-Pierre Élissalde. He plays both scrum-half and fly-half. He played in Stade Rochelais until 2002 then decided to go to Stade Toulousain, where he has had a hard time becoming a team member, competed by Frédéric Michalak and Yann Delaigue.
Yet he became the number one scrum half in Stade Toulousain and is competing with Biarritz Olympique's Dimitri Yachvili for the number 9 shirt in the French national team. He was notably the best French scorer during the 2004 Grand Slam scoring 36 points.
Élissalde also won the Heineken Cup twice (2003 and 2005) but has never won the Top 14.
His name, which is a very frequent Basque name, means "near the church" in the Basque language.
