[edit] Offwiki Links

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Do you actually GO TO the links you remove before assuming they are spam? The "profile & photo" links I've been adding tonight are of an educational, enyclopedic nature and absolutely meet the requirements of Wikipedia. They link to a non-profit, well-regarded webpage which exists primarily to provide information about cities and neighborhoods from an urbanistic/architectural perspective. I literally cannot think of any sort of webpage more appropriate to externally link in the context that I did. Furthermore, a cursory glance at my history of edits on Wiki should indicate that I'm not interested in spamming. The fact that I am adding links that point to different external pages to more than one Wiki article on the same evening does not mean the links I am adding are spam. User:jdmalouff
The website does seem like it would an appropriate external link under certain circumstances, but it has been added in an inappropriate manner. Without discussion you have added links to multiple articles - which might not bring you immediate financial gain, but does have the potential to boost the visiblity of your website (which brings up the issue of conflict of interest.) A better way would have been to bring up posting your website on this talk pages of the various articles and letting other editors discuss its inclusion before you added it. At this point, it is probably best that you remove the links yourself and let the editors of individual articles discuss whether the link is worth including. Due to the high amount of spam, posting activity that even resembles spamming must be looked at with suspicion. Nposs 04:52, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Moon

Jdmalouff - your recent additions to Moon have been removed. Thank you for the contribution, but unfortunately the material you added duplicated content that was already present. The section on Cruithe etc. was already incorporated into Moon#Orbit and relationship to Earth, while the information on "Lilith" - a disproved concept - only served to add confusion. (Lunokhod had already removed this information during a big cleanup of the article recently.) --Ckatzchatspy 17:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
