[edit] Keep up the good work
You're doing great work on Ed McCully; don't sweat the details about image policy and all that. I've been working on the Jim Elliot article of late, so once that's in better shape I'm going to move to the articles on Nate and Ed. It's great to see your interest, and thanks for the help! --Spangineerws (háblame) 23:29, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- When you say, "By Randy Alcorn", are you saying he took the picture? I don't think he was alive at the time. Just because the image appears on his website doesn't mean that 1) he isn't breaking copyright rules or 2) you're allowed to copy it. The reuse statement at the bottom applies specifically to articles written by Randy Alcorn, not all content that appears on his website. --Spangineerws (háblame) 00:56, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Yep, it's a real mess. I've been contributing to Wikipedia for over two years and am finally starting to feel comfortable with image copyright rules. You're always safe, however, if your image is really old (pre-1923, usually), or the author allows anyone to distribute, modify, and use his work (even for commercial purposes). Remember those two rules and you'll get it right 90% of the time. --Spangineerws (háblame) 06:10, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Jimelliot.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Jimelliot.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
