Jazze Pha (pronounced Jazzie Fay) is the stage name of Phalon Anton Alexander (born 1975 in Memphis, Tennessee). He is an American record producer, songwriter and rapper. His father is Bar-Kays bassist, James Alexander. He is named after the late Phalon Jones, a member of his father's group. His mother is an accomplished singer named Denise Williams, but contrary to widespread belief, she is not chart-topping R&B and gospel singer, Deniece Williams.[1]

If you think Deniece Williams is my mom, she's not . . . My mom's name is Denise Williams, and people twisted that and ran with it. Now, I get people who want to argue with me that say, "Yeah, that is your mama!" No, it’s not.

— Jazze Pha[2]

Jazze Pha's first hit was the club anthem from Tela, "Sho Nuff", the label banner of the producer's company. Other artists with whom his has worked include Nelly, Ludacris, Trick Daddy, T.I. and Lil' Wayne. He is also credited with bringing R&B singer Ciara national attention with her solo album, Goodies. His work on that album included producing the hit single, "1, 2 Step", which featured Missy Elliott.

Jazze Pha has signed a production deal with Cash Money Records, and also has his own record label, Sho'nuff, which signed Ciara and Jody Breeze.

[edit] Trademarks

Jazze Pha will often provide a spoken introduction to songs during the lead-in, with the phrase "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a Jazze Pha production", or "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a Jazze Phizzle Productshizzle". This line appears with only slight variations on tracks such as "1, 2 Step", "Boogie Oogie Oogie","Errtime", "Looking At You", "Nasty Girl", "So What", "Get Up", and "You Should Be My Girl", "I Know You Want me" among others. He is also heard shouting "Ooooh wheee!" in the background of several songs, as well as repeating his trademark phrase "Ladies and Gentlemen".
