[edit] Bunts

Dear Jayanth,

It's good to meet atheists like me. However, in my opinion total rejection(and not respect) of the religions is the way ahead :-).

By the way, this is regarding the changes you have made in bunt's article. Could you please check them out? Most of the surnames are only titles and donot define any tribal or clannish affiliatios hence could be observed across the castes. Please go through this article where you can find Bunt people with the surnames that you have deleted. Please make edits accordingly. Please check if B.M.Hegde is a Bunt or a Brahmin. Hope to have a more scholarly discussions like this with you in the future. http://www.daijiworld.com/chan/org_link.asp?o_id=9

Thanks for your trouble.

Manjunatha (27 Jan 2006)

PS: The new genetic studies(Sengupta et al. and Sahoo et al.) show that most of the caste Indians(both South and North) derive from the same genetic pool. Indian caste and tribes have a common maternal ancestry. Therefore, branding people as Indo-European and Dravidian based on their physical aspects should be done with great care considering broader time-frame and multiple migrations. I'm sure you are well versed with Out-Of-Africa theory of Homo-Sapiens. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/01/0110_060110_india_genes.html

I have replied to you at my talk page. Thanks.

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Cieras.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Image tagging

Your sources for the Anna and Britney pictures aren't so bad... but, if you scanned them you should say so... and if you got the scan from online you should give the URL and name of your source. Like, saying the cover of Maxim is alright... because it's easy enough to find the source somewhere and obvious that it is the cover... however, for Image:Image-Shilpa.jpg you said "Women's Era, a monthly magazine in all metros of India" but you should say which volume of the magazine it was, and what page you found it on... if you found it online give as much information as you can about the original source and then give all of the information about the online source. We need all of that to justify fair use and to verify that it is fair use. Thanks. gren グレン ? 22:56, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Image-Shilpa.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Image-Shilpa.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

[edit] Shivalli Brahmins

I saw that you were the user who created the article on Shivalli Brahmins. I'm a Shivalli Smartha myself and I'm trying to get more information about us, but there seems to be a dearth of information about us on the net. Can you please expand the article or mention some links or books or anything which would give me more information? I personally found shivalli brahmins being called "Tulu Brahmins" surprising. Thank you and thanks for the good article.

[edit] Request,Nomination for removal of Khalistan article

Hello Sir I'm nominating this page for deletion because it is written with a point of view , excessive use of unreliable sources.and the title "Khalistan" is wrong for the topic because "Khalistan" does not exist, lack of support from resident Punjabi's and Sikhs in India, but there was a "Movement for Khalistan" and that is the right title for the topic, and i think this whole article "a new name" should be rewritten with the help of people from sikh community "in" India and other Indians, because this topic is related to politics/people of India. We all should understand Khalistan is not a political entity and having a article is not justified, Microsoft Encarta and Britannic encyclopedia don't have an article known as "Khalistan" but they do have articles on the movement that took place decades back, and i think there are also copyright issues involved with this article because big parts of this article are written on other peoples research. Many reliable sources are used to show "one side" of their view on the topic, there are also indications that organisations banned by US and EU are involved in providing their research on the movement.I am a strong supporter to have a stub on this topic , but im afraid that such articles on wikipedia have become mouthpieces for organisation which are known for disrupting peace (assassination of one of india's prime minister, twin bomb blast in New Delhi on the eve of Diwali) in Indian sub continent. This article requires your attention , please help. Anmol.2k4 18:48, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Lisr.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Lisr.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Kevin 11:00, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

I have removed this image from the Lisa Ray article because it contained no content about the magazine, and therefore does not qualify as fair use. Kevin 12:52, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
