The University is recognised by the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Set up by Act No. 14 of 2002 vide Extraordinary Gazette notification of Government of Himachal Pradesh dated May 23, 2002. Approved by the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The University commenced academic activities from July 2002.

The university is located 3 K.M. off the highway no 22 (from Waknaghat) which runs from Kalka to Shimla (India).

The following undergraduate degree programmes are offered

The duration of all the above programs are four years.

A dual degree program is also offered, wherein a student can do four years of the aforementioned programs and one year of the MBA program at the Jaypee Business School,NOIDA.

[edit] Boarding and related facilities

90% of the total population lives on-campus. On-campus boarding capacity is for up to 1500 students. All rooms are internetworked and are provided with internet access. Single and double rooms are available for lodging with the former being slightly more expensive than the latter. A student is provided witha bed, an almirah, a rack & shelf and a study table. Food at the college mess - Annapurna - is available to students living on-campus without extra payment. Gymnasium facilities are also available.

There are more than 500 IBM Desktops in the academic block available to students in various labs. A UNIX(OS - Sun Solaris 9) lab is also provided with more than 30 thin clients. Laser color and black & white printers are also available.
