Jay C. Wingard is a professional composer focusing on classical and easy listening genres.

He began studying and playing piano at the age of five. He composed his first piece for solo piano at the age of nine and began teaching piano at age fifteen. In 1991 he developed a special needs music program for Lexington District One in South Carolina that used music to teach basic motor and memorization skills to gifted children. Jay studied under Dr. Charles Fugo at the University of South Carolina.

Jay's musical style has been labeled "haunting" and "full of imaginative soul".

He has written several full scale symphonies, two sonnets, five sonatas for piano and dozens of smallers pieces for piano, cello and voice. Jay's works have been commissioned world wide. He has most recently written original works for Dr. Maya Angelou and Erin Brokovich for keynote speaking. Many of his pieces can be heard on local and national television spots. He has also written choral pieces for children's choirs featuring piano, organ, strings, children choir and adult choir.

Jay is a member of ASCAP, The Music Teacher's National Association and the Orff Shulwerk Association.

Jay lives in Columbia, South Carolina and is happily married. When he is not composing he enjoys graphics design and studying theology. Jay and his wife are both very active in their local church.
