Jay Aston (born 4 May 1961, London) is a former singer with the group, Bucks Fizz.

[edit] Following the fizz

After the band was involved in a serious coach accident in 1984, Ashton took the decision to leave the group. This had been brewing as a result of time on the road and feelings of internal dispute.

As she was still under contract, Ashton felt unable to leave the group. However, she went to court and as a result ended up paying close to £400,000. By the time the ordeal was over, offers of solo contracts had gone as the singer was no longer considered 'hot'.[citation needed]

Close to financial ruin, Ashton rebuilt her life, living in a small flat in Streatham. She now lives with her new partner and child. She also teaches in a children's dance school.

In 2005 there was a play at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe called 'A Night Of A Thousand Jay Aston's'. The life of Aston was told through lip-synch and OTT parody, with the part of Jay Aston being played by four cast members, one female and three men. The play won critical aclaim and was shown at the C main venue.[citation needed]
