Jay & The Techniques
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jay & The Techniques were an inter-racial pop group which was formed in Allentown, Pennsylvania during the mid-1960's. The band was best known for their Top 10 debut single "Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie" which was released in 1967. Though this song serves as their primary hit, they group also captured various chart positions with such child-like melodies including "Keep the Ball Rolling" (#14) and "Strawberry Shortcake". However, their position on the 60's pop charts declined after "Baby Make Your Own Sweet Music" was released. Jay & The Techniques made one last valiant effort to achieve Pop music status with their R&B hit, "Number Onderful". After savoring the success of their last notable song, the band quietly faded into obscurity. In 1996, Mercury Records released a compilation album of the band's greatest hits entitled "The Best of Jay & The Techniques".
