JayTee Records

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

JayTee Records is a record label set up by American vocalist Justin Timberlake in 2005. His record contract is still with Jive Records. However, he did sign a new artist to JayTee Records named Joshua B.

[edit] Future Projects

Timberlake, the labels founder, has been in discussion with representatives from the Memphis chapter of the Recording Association, the group behind the Grammy Awards, to purchase both Stax Records (of Otis Redding fame) and also Sun Records (which are the breeding ground for legendary artists such as Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis, to name but a few). This project would boost the Memphis local economy but could lead to the demise of Memphis' 50 small scale recording labels. Timberlake, who is a Memphis native, would be a welcome addition to Memphis' already famous and legendary list of artists to have interest in Memphis as a musical center. It is assumed that JayTee Records would be either the name of the new project, or would fall into a new label name. It has yet to be specified.

[edit] Signed Artists

So far, JayTee Records, has reportedly signed just one artist, Joshua B. He is a young R&B artist. It is unknown who JayTee Records is planning to sign, but it is thought that the new project in Memphis, would allow label scouts from JayTee to view Memphis' local talent as well as both national and international artists.
